Tour De Fleece-Limited Finish

July 31, 2015

Well Tour De Fleece has been over for a few days now and I realized I never shared my final totals. This TDF was not my best by far, but I knew going into it that I wasn’t going to get much done. I think not having a double treadle wheel (or at least the ability to switch out legs) definitely hindered me this year. I ended up with a small blister on my toe (a common occurrence for me) which definitely hindered my progress. The results, however diminutive compared to previous years are still wonderful.

On the left is the wheel spun and only finished skein from the tour. Edgewood Garden Studios- Bee in Your Bonnet  with a chain ply. This BFL fiber was a joy to spin and the chain plying actually went fairly well considering how little I actually seem to do it.

The spinning on the right is still a spin in progress. I haven’t even made it through the first strip I ripped off, which I am surprisingly okay with. This is a BFL mixed with Firestar which is a first for me. I can safely say that aside from the sparkley fiber I randomly find on me or in the air this is a great spin. The fiber is from Yarn Geek and as the lovely Marja (we all know the lovely Marja, she is the giver of handspun, the one who introduced me to Bossie spindles and is all around an awesome lady) pointed out the colorway is Brigitte the Magnificent. The color is bright which is surprising for me, but as it’s being spun it does seem a little less in your face. I am hoping to chain ply this as well once I mange to get through it all, but who knows when that might happen.

Overall the Tour wasn’t the greatest, I didn’t focus on it nearly as much as I had hoped, but for the most part I did manage to spin at least a little bit most days, and so I am going to chalk it up to a win.

How did your Tour turn out?

  1. I didn’t even do TdF this year. (dishonor on me, dishonor on my cow) I love your spinning though!

    I didn’t even attempt the Tour. 😛

I’m hoping that next year I’ll have the get up and go to manage it. It doesn’t help that I got sick right in the middle of it and couldn’t bring myself to do any crafting at all really. Here’s to next year!

Nice TdF work! You inspired me to start my Bridgette the Magnificent. It is currently on the spindles so more to come!
